Eclisse Red Desktop Lighting
Description
Designed by Vico Magistretti in 1965, Eclisse won the Compasso d'Oro award in 1967 and became the worldwide representative of Italian design. Eclisse is an avant-garde balance of form and function, design and usability. The basis of the concept lies in the functionality of adjusting the light intensity by means of a rotating inner shade that 'shades' the light source. In fact, with a fixed outer envelope and a movable inner envelope, the lamp can provide direct or diffused light. From an environmental point of view, the new tinting is one of the cleanest technologies: it uses only metals that are not harmful to health and completely eliminates all emissions into the atmosphere, especially those of sulphuric acid and cyanides, which are normally produced by galvanic processes.
In the next stage of clear protective varnishing, which aims to ensure the long-term aesthetic quality of the finish, a solid varnish with a maximum solvent content of 5% is used (compared to the traditional 75%). Very little waste is generated in this process.
Eclisse is part of the permanent collections of the world's most important museums.
