Description
Designed by Vico Magistretti in 1965, Eclisse won the Compasso d'Oro award in 1967 and became the worldwide representative of Italian design. Eclisse is an avant-garde balance of form and function, design and utility. The basis of the concept lies in the functionality of adjusting the light intensity via its rotating inner shade that 'shades' the light source. In fact, with a fixed outer envelope and a movable inner envelope, the lamp can provide direct or diffused light. From an environmental point of view, the new coloring is one of the cleanest technologies: it uses only metals that are not harmful to health and completely eliminates all emissions, in particular the release into the atmosphere of sulfuric acid and cyanides normally produced by galvanic processes.
In the next stage of clear protective varnishing, which aims to ensure the long-term aesthetic quality of the finish, a solid varnish containing a maximum of 5% solvent is used (compared to the traditional 75%). Very little waste is generated in this process.
The Eclisse is part of the permanent collections of the world's most important museums.
