Description

The Shogun metal table lamp is part of Artemide's Master 'Pieces collection. It was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta in 1968. This lamp, currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, has become an icon. Shogun has similarities with Botta's architectural structures: the control of light is the search for simplicity of forms in a balance of richness and dignity. Shogun is a shiny object that is beautiful even when closed, finding a place in living spaces, bedrooms, studies, as well as commercial and public spaces.

DESIGNER OF THE PRODUCT

Mario in the Bot

Mario Botta was born in Mendrisio, Switzerland, in 1943. He was inspired in his work by masters such as Le Corbusier, Louis I. Kahn, and Carlo Scarpa, whom he met during his studies in Venice. Architecture and memory are inseparable in his works, where changes implemented in architecture become part of the human landscape. Light creates space, primary geometric forms are the distinctive signs that humans leave in their environment. Since their first detached house in the canton of Tessin, their work has covered all building types (schools, banks, administration buildings, libraries, museums and religious buildings) as well as design.
