The 9093 kettle with bird-shaped whistle is one of the world's best selling Alessi objects. Created by Michael Graves in 1985, the design of this kettle combines European Art with influences from American Pop and quotations from pre-Columbian cultures. Graves' unique visual language is the reason behind the kettle's phenomenal success since the year it was manufactured. It is a smart, graceful, but also playful and playful object: when the water starts to boil, the bird sings and gives rise to an inescapable smile.

DESIGNER OF THE PRODUCT

Michael Graves

Born in Indianapolis, he has taught architecture at Princeton since 1962. His architectural work includes the Portland Building and Humana Building, an extension of the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Newark Museum. He created the best-selling 9093 kettle for Alessi. Michael Graves died in 2015.
