Philippe Starck (born 18 January 1949, Paris, France) is a French designer known for his wide range of designs, including everything from interior design to home furnishings, boats to watches. He is also known as an architect.
Influenced by his father, who probably worked as an aeronautical engineer, Starck studied at the École Nissim de Camondo in Paris and founded his first company in 1968 producing inflatable objects. Always interested in design as a holistic concept, he built a reputation for himself in the 1970s by creating interiors for clients such as Paris nightclubs La Main Bleue (1976) and Les Bains-Douches (1978).
Philippe Starck is the designer behind some pretty weird and crazy designs like the 'Juicy Salif' lemon squeezer that looks like a metal spider.
